College Goal Sunday events will take place throughout Florida during the weekend of February 21 - 22, 2009. College Goal Sunday is a free event that targets high school students who are in the process of applying for financial aid. At the event, ASPIRA staff and volunteers will walk students and their parents through the complicated financial aid application step by step. On Friday February 6, 2009, more than 60 ASPIRANTES from across Miami-Dade County toured Florida International University's (FIU) University Park Campus. They heard from a panel of five current FIU students on the transition from high school to college, what it takes to stay in college and campus life. In addition, the ASPIRANTES experienced campus life first hand as they dined in the Student Center. The ASPIRANTES enjoyed themselves, learned about college and some even made the decision to apply to FIU. They look forward to the next campus tour scheduled for Spring Break 2009.
